Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 2.27%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronics and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 2.27%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912), which rose 9.97% or 14.50 points to trade at 160.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Aurotek Corp (TW:6215) added 9.90% or 9.50 points to end at 105.50 and Elite Advanced Laser Corp (TW:3450) was up 9.86% or 28.50 points to 317.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Universal Inc (TW:1325), which fell 5.76% or 2.00 points to trade at 32.75 at the close. JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) declined 4.50% or 4.30 points to end at 91.30 and Paragon Technologies Co Ltd (TW:3518) was down 3.70% or 0.85 points to 22.15.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Elite Advanced Laser Corp (TW:3450) rose to all time highs; up 9.86% or 28.50 to 317.50. Shares in Paragon Technologies Co Ltd (TW:3518) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.70% or 0.85 to 22.15.

Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.66% or 0.51 to $78.36 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.46% or 0.37 to hit $81.66 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.32% or 8.79 to trade at $2,742.11 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 32.92, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.04% to 0.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 108.93.
