Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 0.44%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Biotech & Medical Care and Information Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.44% to hit a new 3-months high.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were General Interface Solution GIS Holding Ltd (TW:6456), which rose 9.97% or 4.85 points to trade at 53.50 at the close. Meanwhile, EverFocus Electronics Corp (TW:5484) added 9.87% or 6.10 points to end at 67.90 and Cosmo Electronics Corp (TW:2466) was up 8.58% or 6.30 points to 79.70 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025), which fell 10.00% or 8.80 points to trade at 79.20 at the close. Cub Elecparts Inc (TW:2231) declined 8.41% or 9.50 points to end at 103.50 and United Renewable Energy Co Ltd (TW:3576) was down 6.30% or 0.63 points to 9.37.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Cosmo Electronics Corp (TW:2466) rose to all time highs; rising 8.58% or 6.30 to 79.70. Shares in United Renewable Energy Co Ltd (TW:3576) fell to 3-years lows; losing 6.30% or 0.63 to 9.37.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.84% or 0.62 to $74.87 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.71% or 0.55 to hit $77.60 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 1.68 to trade at $2,663.72 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was up 0.28% to 32.87, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.27% to 0.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 108.39.
