Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.57%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 1.57%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:MEGACPO), which rose 4.94% or 1.78 points to trade at 37.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) added 2.06% or 5.60 points to end at 277.65 and Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) was up 1.36% or 0.35 points to 26.02 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (BMV:FEMSAUBD), which fell 4.56% or 8.01 points to trade at 167.70 at the close. Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO) declined 4.25% or 1.00 points to end at 22.51 and Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) was down 4.05% or 0.61 points to 14.46.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 112 to 102 and 13 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (BMV:FEMSAUBD) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.56% or 8.01 to 167.70. Shares in Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.25% or 1.00 to 22.51. Shares in Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.05% or 0.61 to 14.46.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.70% or 18.70 to $2,650.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.20% or 0.88 to hit $74.01 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.63 to trade at $76.56 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.30% to 20.64, while EUR/MXN rose 0.64% to 21.28.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 108.77.
