Portugal stocks higher at close of trade; PSI up 0.55%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Utilities sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 0.55% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS), which rose 3.56% or 0.19 points to trade at 5.52 at the close. Meanwhile, EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) added 2.46% or 0.08 points to end at 3.17 and The Navigator Company SA (ELI:NVGR) was up 2.06% or 0.07 points to 3.66 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP), which fell 1.25% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.46 at the close. Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA) declined 0.37% or 0.03 points to end at 8.02 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT) was down 0.37% or 0.02 points to 5.38.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 18 to 8 and 3 ended unchanged.

Brent oil for March delivery was up 2.28% or 1.70 to $76.34 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.57% or 1.84 to hit $73.56 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 1.17% or 30.99 to trade at $2,671.99 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.84% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.73% at 109.09.
