Netherlands stocks higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.97%

Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.97%.

The best performers of the session on the AEX were BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI), which rose 2.91% or 3.85 points to trade at 136.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Shell PLC (AS:SHEL) added 2.31% or 0.70 points to end at 30.81 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) was up 1.66% or 11.30 points to 690.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO), which fell 1.73% or 1.00 points to trade at 56.96 at the close. Universal Music Group NV (AS:UMG) declined 1.62% or 0.40 points to end at 24.32 and Randstad NV (AS:RAND) was down 0.96% or 0.39 points to 40.32.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 86 to 14 and 8 ended unchanged.

The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.59% or 1.86 to $73.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.30% or 1.72 to hit $76.36 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 1.20% or 31.66 to trade at $2,672.66 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.84% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.74% at 109.10.
