Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.48%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Media, Utilities and Food & Beverages sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.48%, while the MDAX index added 0.43%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.46%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG), which rose 3.72% or 5.74 points to trade at 160.20 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) added 2.53% or 0.73 points to end at 29.56 and Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) was up 2.40% or 5.80 points to 247.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p), which fell 1.89% or 1.68 points to trade at 87.36 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) declined 1.77% or 1.50 points to end at 83.20 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) was down 1.72% or 10.60 points to 604.00.

The top performers on the MDAX were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which rose 8.04% to 12.71, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 4.26% to settle at 11.75 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which gained 4.04% to close at 84.95.

The worst performers were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (ETR:JUNG_p) which was down 2.26% to 25.08 in late trade, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which lost 2.17% to settle at 15.33 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 2.16% to 2.86 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which rose 4.26% to 11.75, Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was up 2.72% to settle at 19.99 and SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which gained 2.57% to close at 49.90.

The worst performers were 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which was down 5.71% to 11.88 in late trade, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which lost 2.17% to settle at 15.33 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 2.07% to 14.90 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 448 to 197 and 18 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.53% to 15.64.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.19% or 31.46 to $2,672.46 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.58% or 1.85 to hit $73.57 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.26% or 1.69 to trade at $76.33 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.88% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.76% at 109.12.
