Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 0.43%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Information Services, Optoelectronic and Machinery sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.43%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538), which rose 70.12% or 11.92 points to trade at 28.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Epileds Technologies Inc (TW:4956) added 10.00% or 3.35 points to end at 36.85 and Microtek International Inc (TW:2305) was up 10.00% or 1.45 points to 15.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Shin Tai Industry Co Ltd (TW:1235), which fell 6.19% or 5.10 points to trade at 77.30 at the close. Arima Communications Corp (TW:8101) declined 4.23% or 0.80 points to end at 18.10 and Kuangli Photoelectric Technology Co Ltd (TW:6431) was down 3.44% or 0.50 points to 14.05.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 70.12% or 11.92 to 28.92.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.11% or 0.08 to $70.18 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.08% or 0.06 to hit $73.23 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 4.94 to trade at $2,640.44 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was up 0.20% to 32.74, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.18% to 0.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 107.94.
