Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 0.65%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Machinery, Plastic and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.65%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cosmo Electronics Corp (TW:2466), which rose 9.89% or 3.75 points to trade at 41.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Kinko Optical Co Ltd (TW:6209) added 9.88% or 2.50 points to end at 27.80 and Shin Zu Shing Co Ltd (TW:3376) was up 9.86% or 18.00 points to 200.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were BizLink Holding Inc (TW:3665), which fell 9.91% or 67.00 points to trade at 609.00 at the close. Li Cheng Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:4426) declined 8.70% or 1.10 points to end at 11.55 and Advancetek Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1442) was down 6.01% or 4.60 points to 72.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Cosmo Electronics Corp (TW:2466) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.89% or 3.75 to 41.65. Shares in Li Cheng Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:4426) fell to 5-year lows; losing 8.70% or 1.10 to 11.55.

Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.46% or 1.03 to $69.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.57% or 0.42 to hit $72.97 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 1.34% or 35.64 to trade at $2,617.66 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was unchanged 0.01% to 32.68, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.13% to 0.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 107.82.
