Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.44%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 1.44%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA), which rose 5.33% or 16.64 points to trade at 329.01 at the close. Meanwhile, Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) added 1.09% or 0.51 points to end at 47.10 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV:GFINBURO) was up 0.73% or 0.35 points to 48.29 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q), which fell 3.01% or 5.36 points to trade at 172.88 at the close. Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO) declined 2.95% or 0.35 points to end at 11.52 and Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GMEXICOB) was down 2.84% or 3.08 points to 105.39.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 147 to 80 and 20 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.28% or 34.25 to $2,720.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $68.44 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.12 to trade at $72.02 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.32% to 20.16, while EUR/MXN fell 0.65% to 21.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 106.08.
