U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.67%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemicals, Construction & Materials and Software & Computer Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.67%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which rose 5.24% or 189.00 points to trade at 3,793.00 at the close. Meanwhile, NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) added 3.73% or 14.20 points to end at 395.00 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 3.64% or 9.15 points to 260.65 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which fell 3.43% or 24.00 points to trade at 676.00 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) declined 2.33% or 5.80 points to end at 243.40 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was down 1.94% or 96.00 points to 4,850.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1248 to 612 and 597 ended unchanged.

Shares in NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.73% or 14.20 to 395.00. Shares in J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.33% or 5.80 to 243.40. Shares in Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.64% or 9.15 to 260.65.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.75% or 74.15 to $2,620.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.05% or 2.15 to hit $68.23 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.71% or 2.00 to trade at $71.87 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.41% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 105.43.
