Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.53%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.53%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were GCC SAB de CV (BMV:GCC), which rose 3.48% or 5.61 points to trade at 166.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) added 2.69% or 1.32 points to end at 50.45 and Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:BIMBOA) was up 2.21% or 1.36 points to 62.83 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GCARSOA1), which fell 2.66% or 3.25 points to trade at 118.84 at the close. Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA) declined 2.64% or 0.38 points to end at 14.00 and Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) was down 2.61% or 0.66 points to 24.65.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 122 to 96 and 19 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 3.30 to $2,745.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.09% or 2.15 to hit $71.64 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.94% or 2.15 to trade at $75.25 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.81% to 20.10, while EUR/MXN fell 0.18% to 21.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 103.81.
