Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.38%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Chemicals and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.38%, while the MDAX index gained 0.67%, and the TecDAX index added 0.35%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which rose 6.60% or 2.34 points to trade at 37.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) added 3.71% or 2.16 points to end at 60.44 and BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) was up 1.70% or 0.79 points to 46.99 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which fell 1.81% or 0.55 points to trade at 29.91 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) declined 1.37% or 0.23 points to end at 16.59 and Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) was down 1.10% or 1.56 points to 139.62.

The top performers on the MDAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which rose 9.13% to 3.46, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was up 4.85% to settle at 64.80 and Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which gained 4.09% to close at 30.55.

The worst performers were GEA Group AG (ETR:G1AG) which was down 1.34% to 47.00 in late trade, Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which lost 1.22% to settle at 84.85 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which was down 1.20% to 98.60 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 4.85% to 64.80, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 4.22% to settle at 5.80 and Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which gained 4.07% to close at 44.44.

The worst performers were SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 13.56% to 54.20 in late trade, Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which lost 2.16% to settle at 93.05 and Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 1.16% to 135.80 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 335 to 272 and 43 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.17% to 16.59.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.91% or 24.60 to $2,732.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.85% or 1.31 to hit $69.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.79% or 1.33 to trade at $73.12 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 103.39.
