U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.03%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 1.03% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.71%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.60%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Honeywell International Inc (NASDAQ:HON), which rose 3.24% or 6.70 points to trade at 213.70 at the close. Meanwhile, International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) added 2.48% or 5.68 points to end at 234.30 and Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:CAT) was up 2.12% or 8.23 points to 396.19 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which fell 3.41% or 5.28 points to trade at 149.37 at the close. Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) declined 1.25% or 3.65 points to end at 287.92 and Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ) was up 0.23% or 0.10 points to 44.11.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:NCLH) which rose 10.91% to 23.07, Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL) which was up 7.02% to settle at 20.20 and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (NYSE:RCL) which gained 5.26% to close at 193.03.

The worst performers were Constellation Energy Corp (NASDAQ:CEG) which was down 6.12% to 262.28 in late trade, NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:NRG) which lost 5.34% to settle at 88.56 and Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) which was down 3.41% to 149.37 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Dogwood Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:DWTX) which rose 1,725.81% to 2.83, Momentus Inc (NASDAQ:MNTS) which was up 155.42% to settle at 1.06 and Banzai International Inc (NASDAQ:BNZI) which gained 81.88% to close at 5.02.

The worst performers were BAIYU Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:BYU) which was down 51.49% to 0.49 in late trade, Sacks Parente Golf Inc (NASDAQ:SPGC) which lost 49.73% to settle at 1.83 and Nisun International Enterprise Development Group Co Ltd (NASDAQ:NISN) which was down 25.81% to 14.23 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1581 to 1205 and 99 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1629 fell and 1628 advanced, while 140 ended unchanged.

Shares in Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.02% or 1.33 to 20.20. Shares in Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (NYSE:RCL) rose to all time highs; up 5.26% or 9.64 to 193.03. Shares in Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.41% or 5.28 to 149.37. Shares in Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.41% or 5.28 to 149.37. Shares in International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.48% or 5.68 to 234.30. Shares in Dogwood Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:DWTX) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1,725.81% or 2.67 to 2.83. Shares in BAIYU Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:BYU) fell to all time lows; losing 51.49% or 0.52 to 0.49. Shares in Sacks Parente Golf Inc (NASDAQ:SPGC) fell to all time lows; falling 49.73% or 1.81 to 1.83.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 2.61% to 20.86.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.36% or 9.40 to $2,626.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.37% or 0.27 to hit $73.30 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.66% or 0.51 to trade at $76.67 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 0.78% to 149.34.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 102.70.
